Medications that shrink the mucous membranes if inflamed, together with a diver's experience at equalizing pressure in the middle ear toothache pressure in head and sinuses, can prevent these problems. Use oil of cloves (eugenol). The tooth is exquisitely sensitive to percussion (tapping with a metal dental probe or tongue blade) and chewing. Consider having a custom diving mouthpiece made or at least a well fitting one that really is comfortable. Most of the time, cracked teeth, cavities, exposed roots, and nerves cause these issues.
Use fingertips to apply pressure between the upper and lower jaws on the muscle just in front of the earlobes.
